Challenger 2 is an advanced main battle tank built by BAE Systems Land Systems (formerly Vickers Defence Systems, then Alvis Vickers Ltd). The tank is in ser
“Sending Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine is the start of a gear change in the U.K.’s hoping to make good some of the thousands of vehicles and hundreds of aircraft the Russians have lost in
Western-made main battle tanks like the Abrams, Challenger 2s or the Leopard tanks – which have been donated by the U.S., Germany, U.K. and other international allies – are far more likely to
This tank uses a 1,500-horsepower diesel engine. This figure is identical to M1 Abrams. However, the Chinese 3rd-gen MBT is substantially lighter, weighing just 55 tons vs. 70 tons. Naturally, the
Thought the UK primarily had MLC 70 bridges so this is surprising. Neither 74 short tons nor 74 long tons equates to 62.5 metric tons. The long ton, the imperial unit, is slightly more than 1000kg. The bog standard Challenger 2 is 62.5 metric tonnes, this behemoth is 74 metric tonnes.

SwingfireOP December 10, 2023, 10:16am #6. It seems the OES inherited the bucking bronco behaviour of the previous challengers : Note the jerking from the gear changing, it means the tank feels a lot slower and more manouverable. TIme to make a bug report which will get rejected.
Challenger 2 is known as the safest MBT line in the world and has never been destroyed by enemy fire on the battlefield. The world is witnessing a powerful rise of new generation modern tanks, the US and Russia are still the leading countries in this field. The Challenger 2 TES and Challenger 2f have the same side skirt protection, despite the TES being heavier and the armour being twice as thick. this makes it currently, pointless to use the TES when compared to the 2f. the 2f is lighter, slightly (barely) faster, and offers you the exact same protection with its composite skirts while the TES sTWTigx.
